What was I thinking?
I’d heard much about the online auction but didn’t take my first look until only a couple of hours remained. It was only a browsing visit, so I thought. Then, I couldn’t help myself. So, I bid and received the “You’re the highest bidder” notice. Then began all of the emotions related to what was I thinking? The incredible, six-foot-tall, stained-glassed window that caught my eye would fit in my life about as well as it fits in the space we designated for our Blog images.
On my drive home, I received a text telling me, “You have been outbid,” so I went into my house and informed Carolyn that I had good news. “I didn’t win, but look at what I bid on.” I was very much surprised when she didn’t think I was absolutely crazy – she was supportive even. So, I returned to bidding without any idea what I would do with this treasure or how I would get it from there to here if I actually won. But, bid, bid, and bid again I did – until I resigned myself to the fact that someone else wanted it even more. Congratulations, whoever you are.
Why would I share this story? Good question. St. John’s Church is a client. When they added a contemporary worship service, we were entrusted to create a brand and assist in the marketing effort. I may not be a stained-glass window owner, but we do have history. A great one. See for yourself.
In a social media post this afternoon, Pastor Gini said this new chapter is about “loving choices.” I’m pretty sure that’s called grace. Don’t worry, they’re not going anywhere. They’re moving forward.
