DO road trip
I just returned from a road trip with our friends from Design Outreach. Our objectives: 1) scout the location of one of its approaching Galas; and 2) get our narrator on film for the video that will be premiered at the Galas. It was a long day. But, since it was also one of the most rewarding days of my career, “long ” was actually too short. We met Mike Edwards, his crew from The 5 Stones Group, and Pastor Kondo Simfukwe (our narrator) in Winona Lake, Indiana. Trying to describe a guy everyone needs to meet is a difficult task, so I’ll limit myself to a two-word description of Pastor Kondo: 1) awesome; and 2) humble… Not possible: 3) gracious; and 4) powerful. The script he was asked to read was an incredible collaboration. We were pleased with it going into the day. After watching Pastor Kondo deliver it, I was well beyond pleased at days end. At one point during the filming, Mike asked me my thoughts. I simply pointed to the goosebumps on my arm. Mike translated that as, “We’re good. Let’s move on.” After Pastor Kondo read his final line, Mike asked me again for my thoughts. I couldn’t speak. The tears were rolling. Sometimes joy refuses to be contained.
Stay tuned… And, please consider joining us as Design Outreach celebrates ten years of life-changing transformations at Villa Milano in Columbus on October 26th. Register here.
