The Downtown Dublin story is very close to home and office for us. On the east side of the Scioto River, rises Crawford Hoying’s Bridge Park. This new mixed-use development is exciting, in the news, but a bit concerning to the businesses located in Historic Dublin, Dublin’s historic downtown located on the west side of the river. As a result, Peebles Creative Group was retained by the Dublin Convention and Visitors Bureau to engage six Dublin stakeholders (who all need visitors), to build consensus and offer recommendations. The result of our work is the Downtown Dublin Strategic Alliance which brings the City of Dublin, Dublin Convention and Visitors Bureau, Crawford Hoying (Bridge Park Developer), Historic Dublin Business Association, Dublin Historical Society and the Dublin Arts Council into a multiple-year collaboration that will pool marketing resources and bring genuine collaboration. To reach this result, the Dublin Convention and Visitors Bureau first needed to pitch the City of Dublin its plan to reallocate bed tax dollars for an initiative of this kind. Next, it needed to find a partner it could trust to lead the project. Once Peebles Creative Group was selected, we conducted face-to-face interviews with the leadership from each stakeholder group, a communications audit of marketing materials and events and prepared recommendations for success. These recommendations were presented to City of Dublin leadership and the Dublin City Council, the first of which have already been implemented – the creation of the Downtown Dublin Strategic Alliance. Our work on a content marketing strategy, branding campaign and 24-month Advertising, Public Relations and Media Plan are now underway.
